BADR
4 26E BSS is as
per the
footprint readily receivable accross Europe and the Middle East,
alignment however can prove problematic in the North of Europe because
of adjacent channel interference from the high power signals at 28.2E,
BADR is very easy to receive in Cyprus and Malta as example,
and
is popular with expats who dont wish to have monster dishes at their
homes. BADR was launched by Ariane 5 on July 7th 2008, it was the 40th
Ariane 5 rocket launch.
BADR 6 also at 26E is much harder to receive in Northern Europe. it is
BADR 6 which carries the ADMC Abu Dhabi Sports channels.
Other channels and packages are broadcast from the same
satellite orbital position, but be aware that both BADR
satellites have significantly different footprints, and the maps below
reflect this.
We sell the Aljazeera Sports viewing card as well as the ADMC card both
of which are suitable for use on this
satellite, Aljazeera cards do not require any special dedicated
receivers, they simply need a card receiver which supports viaccess or
Irdeto, or a CI receiver with irdeto or viaccess CAM and the
appropriate Irdeto or viaccess card. Abu Dhabi Sports broadcasts in
Irdeto and currently the broadcaster will only pair their card to the
Humax IR1020HD receiver, which has a second spare card slot, it is
thought that this approach has been taken to prevent card sharing.

Recommended dish sizes are for the maps below A: 70cm

For the other channels and subscription or FTA packages on BADR you may
need a different
size of dish depending on where you are located information suggested
in forums, would indicate that a 2.4m dish or larger is needed for

is a reasonable amount of good quality FTA channels available for
English Speakers, who dont mind slightly older programming content, and
arabic subtitles, this is also good for people who are on holiday with
a small dish available in the Meditarranean.
