Sky UK and ROI broadcast from 28.2E and
28.5E fringe
reception advice and footprints are shown on this page. Reception
footprint for the south beam of Astra 2A, 2B
and Astra 2D appropriate to Sky ROI packages.
Sky UK and ROI broadcast from the orbital
position 28.2E
and Eurobird is also included in the constellation but at 28.5E is
slightly
off making total fringe reception very difficult, this is especially
true of Astra 2D, the main satellite for FTA broadcasts from the BBC
but also carrying RTE which is only available over satellite
subscriptions via the Sky ROI package, similar to Sky UK in most
respects except for football coverage and regional variations Sky offer
a comprehensive choice of channels suitable for all British expats or English
speakers.
Sky ROI, easily receivable through most of
Europe, RTE
becomes
tricky around Alicante, Valencia, Murcia and the Canary Islands in
Spain but is easy in other places such as Malaga, Madrid etc. Sky ROI
has some differences between that of Sky UK, in that it bills in Euros
and some sport events have slight variations as example some games
shown live on Sky ROI are not permitted on Sky UK.
Sky ROI in general is easy to receive however
the RTE
Channels are
broadcast on Astra 2D at 28.2E, the maps below give indications for
Fringe reception of Astra 2D. We have just added the latest map
covering Spain.
The footprints on this page are intended to
give an
overview of the dish size required for our Sky ROI packages and viewing
card, this page is still being updated to provide more accurate
information on fringe
reception for both the 28.2 East and 28.5 East broadcasts as well as
known anomolies in fringe techniques for Astra 2D.

The
following are unofficial footprints for guidance
